The Driver Briefing PDF creates a purpose-built document for field crews โ route maps, hazard callouts, and critical constraint summaries in a format designed to be printed and handed to the driver.
The Driver Briefing PDF is not a route report. It is a crew-facing document designed for the people executing the move โ not for permit authorities or clients.
What the Driver Briefing Includes
Route Overview
- Simplified route map with directional markers - Total distance and estimated travel time - Origin, destination, and key waypoints - Jurisdiction crossings and permit reference numbers
Hazard Summary
- Priority constraints listed in route-sequence order - Critical clearances (measured, not estimated) - Weight restrictions and load limits - Intersection geometry warnings
Critical POI Callouts
- Each high-priority POI with photo and field notes - GPS coordinates for precise location reference - Measurement data and clearance margins - Mitigation requirements and contact information
Operational Notes
- Escort transition points and staging areas - Time-of-day restrictions - Emergency contact information - Any special handling requirements
How to Generate a Driver Briefing PDF
- Open the route project in RoadScope
- Navigate to Reports Hub
- Select "Driver Briefing" as the report type
- Choose which POIs to include (all or priority-only)
- Review the generated briefing in the preview
- Export to PDF for distribution
Best Practices
- Generate the briefing after the route survey is complete and verified
- Review priority POIs before generating โ these become the callouts
- Include only constraints relevant to the specific load configuration
- Print and have a physical copy available even if sharing digitally
- Update the briefing if the route or constraints change before the move
