The Overhead Clearance Cross-Check is one of the most direct safety tools in RoadScope. You enter your load envelope once, and the platform immediately surfaces every POI on the route where the documented clearance is insufficient or marginal for your load. This section walks through running a cross-check and interpreting the results.
Before You Start
Make sure your route survey is reasonably complete — the cross-check is only as useful as the constraint data behind it. At minimum, all bridges, utility crossings, and overhead signs should be documented as POIs with measured clearance values.
Running the Cross-Check
1. Open the Clearance tab in the route analysis panel (right sidebar)
2. Enter your load height in your workspace unit (metres, feet, or ft′ in″)
3. Optionally enter load width and gross vehicle weight
4. Set your safety margin — how much clearance you need above the physical load height (e.g., 6 in / 150 mm)
5. Click Run Cross-Check
Understanding the Results
Clear (green) — The documented clearance exceeds your load plus the safety margin. No action required.
Caution (amber) — The documented clearance is above your load height but within the safety margin. Review the POI — you may still be able to transit, but you are in the margin.
Conflict (red / Danger badge) — The documented clearance is less than your load height. This POI must be addressed before the move: re-measure, find an alternative route, or obtain a special permit.
Danger Badges
Every Conflict POI displays a red Danger badge on:

Special Maneuver Badges
Some Conflict or Caution POIs are tagged with a Special Maneuver badge when the data indicates a specific action is needed — wide swing through an intersection, split-escort procedure, or pilot car stop. Tapping the badge opens a map overlay showing the maneuver outline and the posted notes.
Per-Type Envelope Panel
Below the POI list, the Cross-Check panel shows the tightest clearance across each POI type — the minimum clearance across all Bridges, the minimum across all Utilities, the minimum across all Signs. This gives you a single-glance summary of where the risk is concentrated without having to scroll through hundreds of POIs.
Exporting Results
The Cross-Check results are automatically included in the Full Report as a Clearance Conflict Summary table. In Excel exports, a Conflict column and Danger badge status are added to every row.
