Why Route Comparison Matters
Many heavy haul moves have more than one viable path. The Route Comparison view lets you evaluate two or more candidate routes simultaneously — measuring clearances, grades, structural risks, and permit complexity against each other.
Opening the Comparison View
From your project, select two or more routes and click **Compare Routes**. RoadScope generates a side-by-side analysis panel with synchronized maps and data tables.
Comparison Dimensions
**Clearance Summary** — Minimum vertical and horizontal clearances on each route, with flagging for values below your load envelope.
**Grade Profile** — Maximum grade, sustained grade length, and adverse grade segments for each route.
**POI Count & Risk Score** — Total constraints, high-risk POIs, and calculated risk scores.
**Permit Complexity** — Number of jurisdictions, permit offices, and known restriction types on each route.
**Distance & Drive Time** — Route length and estimated travel time under OS/OW speeds.
Exporting Comparison Reports
The Route Comparison view can be exported as a PDF summary — useful for presenting route options to clients or permit applicants before committing to a final path.
Decision Support
RoadScope does not make routing decisions for you — but it gives you the factual data to make defensible, documented decisions based on actual field measurements rather than assumptions.
