What the AI Permit Scanner Does

The AI Permit PDF Scanner reads any OS/OW permit document you upload and extracts the structured data โ€” jurisdiction, permit number, load envelope, route description, travel conditions, and expiry date โ€” into a permit record in your OS/OW Document Center. No manual transcription required.

How to Use It

1. Open the OS/OW Document Center for your project

2. Click Add Permit > Scan PDF

3. Upload the permit PDF

4. RoadScope runs the AI extraction and presents the extracted fields for your review

5. Correct any misread values, then click Save Permit Record

Supported Permit Types

The scanner handles common North American OS/OW permit formats, including state DOT single-trip permits, provincial OS/OW permits, superload permits, and bridge authority conditional approvals. The AI has been trained on a wide variety of layouts and adapts to non-standard formatting.

Permit File Attachments

Beyond the extracted data, you can attach the original PDF, supporting photos, engineering letters, and any related correspondence to the permit record. Attached files are stored in the Document Hub and versioned alongside the rest of the project.

Permits Summary in Reports

All active permit records are compiled into a Permits Summary table in the Full Report and the Reports Hub. The table shows permit number, issuing authority, load conditions, travel restrictions, and expiry date โ€” the information permit offices most frequently request.

Important

AI extraction is a strong starting point, not a guaranteed-accurate record. Always verify the extracted data against the original permit document before relying on it for operational or legal purposes.
