Feet & Inches Unit Option
Use ft′ in″ format for all clearance inputs and report fields — the standard for most US and Canadian OS/OW permit packages.
Three Unit Modes
RoadScope supports three unit modes for measurements: Metric (SI — metres, km), Imperial (feet and tenths of a foot, miles), and Feet & Inches (ft′ in″). Canonical storage is always SI internally; the mode you choose controls display and input only.
Setting Feet & Inches
Open Settings > Workspace Preferences > Units and select Feet & Inches. The change applies immediately across all measurement displays, input fields, reports, and exports.
Input Format
When Feet & Inches mode is active, clearance input fields accept values like 14′ 6″ or equivalently 14 ft 6 in. RoadScope parses both formats and stores the value in SI.
Where It Applies
Why Feet & Inches?
US and most Canadian OS/OW permit applications require clearance documentation in ft′ in″ format. Switching to Feet & Inches mode means the values in your reports and exports match the format permit offices expect — no manual conversion.
