Constraint Verdicts in Reports

How RoadScope grades every constraint against your load โ€” PASS, MARGINAL, FAIL, NOT EVALUATED โ€” and picks the governing constraint per route.

One Engine, Every Verdict

All pass/fail judgements in RoadScope reports come from a single shared verdict engine, so a bridge in the Clearance Profile, a width restriction in the Width Report, and a weight limit in the Route Survey Report are all graded by the same rules. Each evaluated constraint gets one of four statuses:

  • **PASS** โ€” your declared load clears the constraint with margin to spare
  • **MARGINAL** โ€” it clears, but inside the safety band; verify in the field before relying on it
  • **FAIL** โ€” the load does not clear the documented constraint
  • **NOT EVALUATED** โ€” the constraint could not be graded (missing measurement or no declared load); this is never treated as a pass
  • Height Verdicts & the High-Voltage Rule

    Height margin = documented clearance โˆ’ load height โˆ’ any required air gap. For high-voltage lines, the required minimum air draft from the active jurisdiction pack is subtracted automatically before grading โ€” a wire you would "clear" physically can still FAIL because the mandated electrical clearance is not met. The margin bands: FAIL at zero or below, MARGINAL up to 0.20 m, PASS above that.

    Width & Weight Verdicts

    Width uses the same logic with a 0.30 m marginal band. Weight FAILs when the load exceeds the posted limit or rating, and is MARGINAL when the remaining margin is 10% or less of the posted limit.

    NOT EVALUATED Is Information, Not Silence

    When a POI has no usable measurement, or the survey has no declared load dimension for that axis, the verdict is NOT EVALUATED with an explicit reason. RoadScope never silently passes an unmeasured constraint โ€” an unknown is reported as unknown.

    The Governing Constraints Table

    Reports include a governing-constraints summary: for each route and each dimension (height, width, weight), the single worst *evaluated* constraint โ€” the one that governs the move. Columns show the route, dimension, governing POI, its position along the route (KM), the verdict badge, and the margin detail. Not-evaluated and off-route POIs never govern.

    Where You See Verdicts

    Verdict badges appear on POI rows in the report body, in the governing-constraints table, and in the derived findings that feed AI Report Studio narratives. The AI never rewrites a verdict โ€” engine results are quoted, not paraphrased.
